BEFORE THE PUPPY PURCHASE
As a potential puppy buyer you must find that I, as a breeder, will ask questions about certain things. It is because I want to find the best homes for our puppies, where they will be loved.
Further down will you find some good advices to read through, before you decide that you will buy a puppy and some tips that could be useful before you will go and get your new furry friend home to you.
Take some time to review these tips and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I will respond you soon as possible.
TO THINK OF BEFORE YOU CONTACT A BREEDER
- Will I have time for a puppy?
- What breed do I really want and will that breed suit me?
- Do I have money to buy and take care of a puppy?
- Am I allergic to dogs?
- What do I want to do with my future furry friend?
Have you thought through these questions before your purchase, then it will make it easier for you as a buyer, me as a breeder and even for the little puppy.
A Chihuahua can be about 15 years, so imagine that you will have your little friend for many years.
WHICH PUPPY SHOULD BE MINE?
It is fun to meet small puppies and it is easy to fall for one, but maybe that particular puppy is not really for you. Make sure to listen carefully what the breeder has to say about each puppy. A breeder is spending all days with the puppies, while you only meet the puppies for a little while. It is important that you have told all your wishes about your future furry friend to the breeder, because it makes it easier for the breeder to recommend a particular puppy for you. But the most important thing is that the choice of puppy feels right both for you and me as a breeder.
THINGS YOU WILL GET ALONG WITH THE PUPPY
- Contract of sale
- Health certification from the veterinary, no more than 7 days old
- Vaccination certification
- Deworming information
- Pedigree from SKK
- Food schedule and food for a few days
- Blanket that will smell mommy and siblings
- Goodiebag filled with some goodies
TIME TO GO AND GET THE PUPPY
When the day comes that you are going to pick up your little puppy, it is good that you have prepared yourself as best as you can.
To the right is a little checklist to look through.
It's really important that you have looked up an insurance before you leave the breeder, otherwise the puppy will be uninsured as soon as you have left the breeder.
If you need help to find a insurance, don't hesitate to ask me for help.
The puppy also needs to travel safely in the car, so we recommend that you buy a car cage. There are also seat belts for dogs , but it's easy for small puppies to get tangled in them. In addition, the puppies have been trained to ride in a car cage. Never have the puppy loose in the car, that's not safe for the puppy and you can also get fined by the police, because it's illegal to have loose dogs in cars.
You also need to puppy proof your home before you bring your new friend to your home. Hide/protect all cables, put away rugs that you like and if you have a long tablecloth, make sure to take it away as well, otherwise the puppy may try to play with it and then accidentally pull down everything that is on the table.
If you have stairs indoor you might also need to put a gate there, so the puppy can't go there by it self. If you have plants that are one the floor, you may need to lift them up in the beginning. When the puppy gets older you can start to train the puppy that plants are not toys to play with.
USEFUL THINGS IN THE BEGINNING
WELCOME HOME LITTLE FRIEND
Once home with the new little puppy, it needs to feel security from the new pack and you will need to spend a lot of your time with the puppy. I recommend that only the puppy's new family is at home with it in the beginning, to give the puppy time to get acquainted with the new pack. Wait with visitors during the first week.
The puppy should have their own calm and comfortable sleeping space, for it will sleep a lot in the beginning. Puppies need their sleep because they are growing much and there will be a lot of new impressions to take in for a young puppy.
You should also have a specific place for the food and water bowl. You will get food with you home from me that will last for a few days and that will also be the food that I will recommend you to continue to feed the puppy with.
If you choose to change the food, you should do it slowly and mix both new and old food, until the puppy is used to the new one.
All the puppies will be started to train before they move with potty training, cutting their nails, get used to be handled by humans, go by car, walk in leash and more. It is important that you continue to train the puppy.
A trained puppy is a happy puppy! I highly recommend going for a puppy course with your new friend, even if you have gone one before, the new little puppy has not. That will also be a good opportunity for social training with other dogs and humans.

Susan is a very engaged breeder. She makes sure that every dog is sound, secure and ready before carefully choosing a new family for them. She stays in touch, arranging sibling meetings and dog walks, and also congratulates each dog on its birthday.
The dogs that she breeds on, those that live with her, are a lovely bunch of individuals and great role models for each litter of puppies.
